my first stroker.need help

Post by shadowg1200 »

hi
i m planning to do my second stroker and i need help
actuly my first stroker was mini stroker and i m happy about the result....but i want to do my next stroker 4.8l in my another xj.

i have ordered the parts already but i m not sure about the calculation

4.8L stroker

~ Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank
~ Jeep 4.2L 5.875" rods
~ 4.0 bore pistons -sum-17350-00 6cc
~ CompCams #68-232-4 camshaft
~ Mill block deck 0.025"
~ Ported HO 1.91"/1.50" cylinder head
~ Stock 0.051" head gasket
~ almost 0.100" quench height
i think the comp ratio will be 10.5:1

do u think there is any thing wrong???????????

sorry for my languege

It's risky boring the cylinders out to 4.00" without first having them sonic checked for thickness. Even if they turn out to be OK, I suggest you use the longer 4.0L rods and go for a set of custom pistons. Those Chevy pistons are too short and will leave the quench height too high. The engine might run but it's likely to detonate even on premium fuel with a combination of high CR and high quench.
If the cylinders won't take a +0.125" overbore, I suggest you play it safe and go +0.030" for a 4.6L stroker using 4.0L rods & Keith Black IC944 pistons.
