When I got my Harland Sharp rockers I searched for an alternative to the Hesco spacer. None found. Maybe call harland sharp or another rocker company that requires a spacer and ask them. You will also need a thermostat spacer.

Thanks, but I'm still wondering if there's an alternative, like say, taller valve covers out there? I'm still undecided about wich roller rockers I will buy (Harland Sharp or Yella) but I think I'll need a spacer or taller cover eitherway.

I didnt think you needed spacers with the yellow terra's?

valve cover spacer should only be required if using adjustable rocker arms

Correct. I ran a set of non adjustable Yella Terras with out a spacer, but needed one for the Harland Sharps

I will get my new upper and lower gasket sets tomorrow. Hopefully, the oil pan gasket will be the one-piece rubber and the intake/exhaust gasket will match my head. I had to get Fel-Pro for the upper set, so I'll probably have to buy a head gasket separatly later.

If all goes well, I will begin my basic porting job this weekend. I won't go crazy, just port-matching and removing cast lines, bumps and flaws. I will follow Standard Abrasives instructions that came with their kit. I might also use dye penetrant spray (NDT aviation kit) to check for cracks before I begin.

Just ordered a JP double roller timing set from Falcon on Ebay. I think it has 9 keyways for timing. Now I will also have to buy a cam degreeing wheel... Still not set on camshaft. What do you guys think of Crower Baja Beast vs Comp 231-4?

I like the 68-231-4 cam shaft. Nice power.

When the time comes to assemble your engine check out my tool rentals in the for sale forum. I have several engine assembly tools that I am renting out as a set and then the lifter bore grooving tool separately.

The thing is I'm in Canada. But I guess that would still be feasible. I'll take a look.

Well my porting task is going little steps at a time... And I'm pretty sure I won't have enough cartdrige rolls to finish. I don't want to buy another SA set for 80$ CND.. so I'm looking at other means. The smallest cartridge rolls is what I won't have enough to finish the combustion chambers. Maybe I will make my own.

Anyway, that's all that is left to do before the block and head go to machining. I have all the parts that will be needed by the shop.

You should have got some carbide cutting bits as well. Made my porting kit last a whole lot longer. I was able to to the head, intake and rods and still have a little left over.

Block and head are leaving for machine shop on Monday. Porting is finished, not perfect, but better than nothing.
