Everybody seem to agree that the 99+ intake is the best intake out there. But of course it has it's limitations. The size of the throttle body being one of them. I guess with some welding and machining you could put a 80mm or a LS1 type throttle body on it, but i wonder if the long runners would still limit things.
I looked around at aftermartet intakes, and I was not really not impressed, one thing did caught my eye, Clifford has a intake for 3 side draft Webbers. about $350.00. Jenvey in the UK http://www.jenvey.co.uk/drawings/index.htm makes throttle bodies that bolt on in place of webers. They are probably $300.00 each, then you will need injectors and linkage, so $1,500 for an induction system. Looks like it would flow all the air you want, but is there anything similar out there made by somebody else that would perform as well but be a little cheaper.

First 1.5 inches or so is a stock 93 inatke welded to a Weber. Then it goes to a common plenum with three stock 87-90 TB's. Section between the "weber" manifold an the plenum is a nice place to tune with spacers for runner length.
Same "weber" section with a different outer plenum section

You will need to come up with a good working design of your own to achieve your goals. I would be more concerned with the runner volume than runner length on that intake. Not to mention that any factory, clifford [except the weber one], or Offy intake forces the use of a header that has poor exit tubing bends. Just mu .02. Save your money----BUILD YOU OWN!

Which design works better? My guess is that 2 throtle bodies work better than 3. Were you running out of air with the stock intake? I run the Mopar 42lbers and according to the ECU they are at about 85% duty cycle. I am currently running the three TB set up and never have really played with the air door set up to try to optimize it. I made a couple of spacers to make the runners longer to taylor it to a lower RPM[not in pic]. The spacers for increased runner length helped the stall and low end without affecting MPH. I do plan on putting dividers in the plenum and restricting the tb's with some reducers that I have already made.
The old two TB set up had too large a diameter runner, too long, and too much plenum volume. With that intake there was a noticable drop in low end torque due to slow air speed. I believe the intake tune length was way out of line with the cam and header tune length. Even if I changed the cam and the header to match the intake, the ports in the head were never going to support that kind of RPM.
The reason for making my own intake was that I never really liked the Standard Clifford intake and I felt the stock TB size and manifold was my worst restriction. After a friend had a HOGAN manifold made for a cool $1500 bucks and it went slower than the intake he had made I decided to make my own. HOGAN's does great work, but I can make several-several-several manifolds for that kinda coin. I'd puke all over the garage if I paid that much for an intake and then cut it up to alter it.

I received my Clifford intake yesterday, it was for a non HO haed, so it is going back. I did take some pictures though. I also measured the runner length. It is 4.5" from the head to the TB mounting surface. I plan to use Extrudeabody throttle bodies. http://www.extrudabody.com/
