valve cover clearance

Post by vashxj »

so getting real close to the final steps in my 4.6 and realized my valve cover wont clean the arp head bolts. so I have a aluminum one back at my shed at my moms im going to pick up tomorrow and so if it clears, but I have not received my Harland sharp rockers (pedestal mount) yet and not sure if they will clear the aluminum one. has anyone run these yet

Mine does. It was tight, but it sealed. Steel cover, unmolested in that area. You could always modify the cover.

Are they the adjustable Harland sharp rockers?

I have Harland sharp rockers and an aluminum cover and had to bend the steel baffle inside the cover back because it was contacting the top of the rockers,

Best picture I could find. Steel plate inside the cover. I realize that the picture is of an older engine part but my 97 has the baffles. If I had to do it over, I would find or make a steel cover to fit since it seems like the aluminum cover amplifies the sewing machine sound.

The steel cover isn't any better at reducing sound.
