Re: push rod and cam question
Cracks in the head around the valve seats are usually a sign that the head's been overheated.

Re: push rod and cam question
There are a fer break in oil available. I would recommend Joe Gibbs or Brad Penn. Just use their oil straight, no additives.vashxj wrote:another question whats the best oil/way to break in the new cam

Re: push rod and cam question
Be careful, you'll be running the stock springs in the danger zone!vashxj wrote:im going to use the new stock ones i have for the break in. i might have to race on those if the performace ones dont get here in time
My stock 2001 springs would coil bind (stack solid) at 1.120". At a 1.64" installed height, there's 0.520" left for valve lift.....subtract the 0.060" safety margin, and those springs are only good for 0.460" lift. The Comp cam you mentioned has 0.485" lift.... more lift than is safe for those springs.
