Re: Help! Look at my cam
Not what i would expect to see with a custom cam either... I know my Mopar cam lobes were not polished (looked similar to yours) when i got it... but thats not a Custom grind. Maybe someone else will chime in.
If it feels right, then STROKE it!

Looks fine to me. They are not suppose to be shinny or nice looking. Its from the parkerizing which helps with the break in process. http://deltacam.com/camshaftgrinding.php?p=6
Who did the custom grind for you?

Re: Help! Look at my cam
It's the phosphate coating that's added to help the prelube stick to the surface during the break-in period. After break-in the lobes should look shiny.EVIL95XJ wrote:i ordered a custom ground cam with my rebuild kit and this is what i got, ive never purchased a custom ground cam before but ive never seen the lobes look like this, looks like they forgot to polish them right?

Lol! SAME thing happened to me! I thought the thrust bearing was some sort of repaired main due to a previously spun bearing, heheamcinstaller wrote:thats ok. the very first time i tore down an engine (very long ago) i didnt know what a thrust bearing was and i posted a panic thread thinking my donor was effed.we all gotta start somewhere
