Help! Look at my cam

Help! Look at my cam

i ordered a custom ground cam with my rebuild kit and this is what i got, ive never purchased a custom ground cam before but ive never seen the lobes look like this, looks like they forgot to polish them right?

Not what i would expect to see with a custom cam either... I know my Mopar cam lobes were not polished (looked similar to yours) when i got it... but thats not a Custom grind. Maybe someone else will chime in.
If it feels right, then STROKE it!

Looks fine to me. They are not suppose to be shinny or nice looking. Its from the parkerizing which helps with the break in process. http://deltacam.com/camshaftgrinding.php?p=6

Who did the custom grind for you?

Yep, looks like any other NEW flat tappet cam to me, only roller cams are shiny.
You can get more power out of ANY engine!!!

thanks guys, thats what i get for being a newb, as for who ground it, the company i got my rebuild get from has a outside source grind them so i dont know who actually did the work

thats ok. the very first time i tore down an engine (very long ago) i didnt know what a thrust bearing was and i posted a panic thread thinking my donor was effed. :oops: we all gotta start somewhere

It's the phosphate coating that's added to help the prelube stick to the surface during the break-in period. After break-in the lobes should look shiny.

Lol! SAME thing happened to me! I thought the thrust bearing was some sort of repaired main due to a previously spun bearing, hehe
