Rod bearings

Post by Grego »

The more reading I'm doing on here the more pissed I'm getting with myself. When I received my bearings I was a little curious about the rod bearings without oil holes. I did a online search and found the Clevite article posted about deleting these oiling holes. So of course I went ahead and installed mine. Now I'm finding all these articles about how they are being modified. Hope I'm ok.

My machine shop guy said the same. Apparently Ford did testing back in the 80's and determined it didn't make a difference.
While I like the idea of the squirt hole, I'd say the opinions of a race-engine builder and Ford Motor company outweigh my opinion!
