hey i have a 91 block a 12cw crank and a set of 4.0L rods a 68-232-4 comp cams bump stick and a 91 head assembled main and rod bearings.
still need lifters, timing set, injectors,head gasket, ARP studs, pistons ( dish size? looking to run 9.5:1+-.25 static)
what do i need to get this thing together did i miss any thing?????
i know i will need to have my block bored at least .030 may be .060 as the #1 top piston ring broke and wore a BIG grove in the bore.
92 XJ 4D custom borla header 3" exhaust flowmaster 50series muffler.
ATK on the way then an OBD 2 swap so flyin ryan can tune.

91 head? That's not an HO is it? I would see if you could get a later head and intake. look at the recipies and FAQ to see where to go. If you look through all of tha and still have questions people on the forum will be happy to answer them.

91-95 is HO. Casting # 7120.
If it feels right, then STROKE it!

yes its a HO head and block sorry didnt think to mention it

With the 4.0 rods you are looking at expensive forged pistons, KB's or Hesco's most likely.

are they the only ones readily available? and are they reliable? how many of you have them an have put 75k+ miles on them.

AFAIK the only pistons available for use with the 4.0 rods are forged. Aside from being a bit noisy at startup forged pistons are significantly better than cast IMO.

got an octopus manifold(99+) complete. from flebay 150 shipped did i do good?

I can get them bare for $25.47+tax at my local JY, probably 90-100 w/ tb and fuel rail. $75-100 seems to be the norm on the forums and on ebay.
