KB945 Pistons - who is using them?

KB945 Pistons - who is using them?
If you search the JS forum for "KB945" you'll find several posts with me mentioning them. I was told that with the 4.0 rods I could use KB944 or K945 pistons. I am always told that the KB945 pistons have too small of a dish volume so then my compression ratio / DCR would be too high. So who is using the KB945? Companies don't manufacture items that aren't used. Google isn't any more helpful. If a 11.38cc dish volume is too small even for E85 as the fuel then what is the purpose of this piston?

I'm not sure about many of the parameters that KB chose. I have not heard of someone using the 945, but you should be able to use it for your e85 build. Refresh my mem--e85 can support 11-12scrs and _____dcrs.
edit:I just read your other thread. I am one of those that have a 10:1scr/8.5+:1dcr build and it needs 93(on purpose).

It's difficult, if even possible, to answer that question for any fuel. I imagine that in Maryland you're at a pretty low altitude, I live 200 feet above sea level and I will take my Jeep to the beach. I didn't know if you researched other e85 builds to get an idea of what guidelines to follow, what you have to change to do the conversion, etc.

That's the problem, the only person I know that has done an E85 build is FrankZ. I don't think that he used a conversion kit to fix the lean condition that damaged his engine. I don't even know if he built it for a high compression specifically for E85. How do you like the high compression? I'm building a 4.7 stroker for my 1936 Dodge Sedan and I want to run 9.5:1-10:1 I don't so much need the low end torque on this one. I started tearing my engine down and have been researching all of the different piston/decking combos to get what I want for the best price. Let me know. I like the power it has and don't mind spending an extra $3-4 per tank to keep it happy. It's a DD and I push it hard and it takes it, just like the 4.0s do. It would be interesting to see the power differences between two identical builds with one being 9:1 and one being 10:1. I've seen some people's options and projected DCRs are in high 6s/low 7s--there has got to be a significant difference in power compared to an 8.5. I say why not, but likewise some say why not 4.7. Gotta love variety. Anyhow crazy chicken, I wasn't just referring to research on Jeep e85 conversions, but others apps as well. Oh yeah, I think Banks has a chevy pu e85 conversion/modification that you might want to check out.

Variety and uniqueness, that's what I'm going for. Besides, not many people go for the E85, maybe I'm just green, then I remember it's a freaking off-road vehicle. The performance value of E85 is awesome, so why not take advantage of it? I have six more months here in sunny Iraq to research my project.
