Oil slinger question

Post by J/D/S »

Hey guys,
Im building a 98 4.6 stroker I got the stage 2 kit from Cleggs along with the PowerPoint balance. when I took the motor apart it didn't have a oil slinger in it I even went back and looked at pictures I took and its not there.
My question is do I need to have one in it? I have read several posts and no one just flat out says yes or no.

If memory serves, there is an oil drain hole from the head to the top of the timing chain that supplies oil on certain years -- probably yours. I didn't save the picture, but it would be around 11 o'Clock in reference to your cam gear. If you have that oil drainback passage, then you don't need the slinger.
