Help with resetting password.

Post by Aiden Pisterov »

Okay, so I have four accounts here. I cannot reset my password on any of them.

THAT IS OKAY. I don't have any real history of posting here, just reading. However, it would help things out a lot if you alter the setup of that page to have the user list their old password FIRST rahter than AFTER having entered the new one, because (at least on Macintosh computers) once you enter the NEW password the OS deletes the old one, so they when you go to enter the "Current Password" the new one *IS* the one that is stored. So you enter that one. Because the old one is now deleted. So you cannot get in. At all. Again, if you enter the new password first, the old one can be deleted by the computer automatically, so that the "current" password no longer exists. Having the layout set up so that the user enters the current password while it is still the current password would really make things easier when we have not been here for a long time.

Just a thought…

Glad to be back.

Under another name, that is…

We don't really control the page flow for the forum software, but at least in my experience its pretty intuitive. There are typically two situations that arise normally:

1. You have not visited the forum in some time and do not remember your password.
  1. Reset your password using the "I forgot my password" link.
2. You reach the time when your password expires and you need to change it.
  • a. The forum prompts you to change it and you follow the on-screen instructions. This requires entering your existing password as well as your new desired password.
  • b. If you don't remember your password or you somehow messed it up with a password manager, then reset it using step 1.
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
