First Stroker Build

Looking to rebuild and stroke my 4.0, I want to keep some reliability and make some power. Looking at doing Clegg stage 2 stroker kit with the bushed rods and Hastings rings, as well as the stage 1/1.5 camshaft and a .040 bore. This was all decided on the phone with Kevin at Clegg, I’ll have to ask for torque curve but if I didn’t mishear him he said it’d make around 250hp. Running 87 octane. Is there anything I should know before going through with this? Excited to join the fun.

Clegg does a pretty decent kit for the money:

I note that they use hypereutectic pistons which offer the advantage of a tighter piston to bore clearance without the cold start piston slap that can affect some forged pistons. For a mild 250hp build they're absolutely fine.

I think you can do better with the choice of camshaft though. If your goal is strong low to midrange torque, I'd suggest the CompCams 163-201-5 (250/258 advertised duration, 205/213 0.050" lift duration, 0.450"/0.450" lift, 113* LSA).

Those are some good notes, glad to know I’m headed in the right direction. Thanks
