4.0 to 4.7 target
I have a 4.0 out of a ZJ Cherokee and I plan to stroke it to 4.7, with those ZJ blocks and heads, what should I look out for and how would I do it with a budget? I have it down to the crank right now and will look for a 4.2 3727 crank if ya'll could help me find one at a good price. I saw you can use stock rods with a .0030 over bore and that will get me to my mark. I'm hoping to not spend to much here so i can splurge a little on a nice cam.

Re: 4.0 to 4.7 target
You didn't mention what year the block is. There were changes for the 1996 model year. Secondly, you didn't mention what you want to put it into. There are compatibility issues with motor mounts, power steering brackets, and other issues depending. Want to elaborate?

Re: 4.0 to 4.7 target
I had two different 0630 heads (one 97 and one 98), one had the little 1/8 port into coolant at the back, one didn't. Also, there was a bolt hole front passenger side that was not present on one. I drilled and tapped the port but the bolt was inconsequential for me, might be another thing to check.

Re: 4.0 to 4.7 target
The coolant port at the back of the head is for a coolant temp sensor dedicated for the gauge. I thought that was eliminated starting the '96 model year. You may have an older head. No clue on the extra bolt boss.
