Hey Jeepers,
I just did this on my new 4.7 and so far it's VERY NICE. I found a couple of complete manifolds w/injectors and rails, one w/T-body, and maybe the power steering pumps and brackets too (the tricky to find part). Decent prices. Anybody interested? I thought about snaggin' them this weekend if anybody is planning this swap and would like the whole setup. Let me know.

I'll state this more clearly,
DO ANYONE NEED THE PARTS TO DO THIS SWAP??? It's good for about 15 HP, more with a cold air and a bored TB. Just checkin.

How much do you want for one?

I don't know where this 15hp claim keeps coming from but it's BS. The actual gain is more like 3hp/5lbft at the wheels. Still, it's nice to have the newer PS pump set up which makes changing the drivebelt and adjusting its tension much easier.

Hey Dino,
Comanche91 posted a 12 hp gain on the dyno on his 4.5 and DJJordache on MallCrawlin.com posted a 26.9 rear wheel dyno gain on his 4.0 93 Grand with a ported and polished big valve head. Even if ya' took a low average, it's gotta' be more than 3hp, seems like.

maybe this should be in the "for sale" section perhaps????

The only reason the mallcrawlin writeup had 26 hp was because newer injectors were switched in for older, shotty injectors. On a stock head Dino's right, but you have to start throwing other stuff to take more advantage of it. If you're selling or trying to sell something, put it in for sale.

Hey guys,
I was just tryin ' to help other forum members out. I had a difficult time trying to find these parts used and had to buy the manifold new. If nobody needs the parts, so be it. No need to get riled

No BS Cheromaniac. Check the dyno sheets, page 2:

When in doubt, DYNO. Agree on the easier belt changing and adjusting; much better.

DJJordache's 4.0 was down on power with the old injectors and probably most of the HP gain was from swapping in newer injectors as well as the manifold. Comanche91's 12rwhp/12rwtq gain does look genuine though but I don't think that'll be representative of a stockish 4.0. I know Mr. Shoeboy (Aaron) dyno'd his 4.6 stroker before and after installing the newer manifold with no other changes. The difference was only 3rwhp/5rwtq.
That said, you've got to wonder why the '00-'01 4.0 XJ with the newer manifold was only rated 3hp/6lbft higher than it's predecessor, especially when DC claimed 2hp of that gain was from the new water pump. The only other change apart from the ignition system (no HP gain there) was the 0331 head. If the 12hp gain really was representative of what the newer manifold achieves, then the 0331 head must produce an 11hp loss. Somehow I seriously doubt that and that's the reason for my skepticism.

I didn't know you were Cheromaniac Dino. Your handle fits.

I have the 0630 head and did some slight polishing around the manifold intake ports (just to take out the casting bumps), so maybe that helped. Plus the old dyno readings were with the mechanical fan, I now have two electrics (as you know), so maybe that helped a bit too. Don

Regardless of the diff #'s posted, it's a worthwhile upgrade and will contribute to power across the band. If you look at the two side by side, you can clearly see that the newer design promotes smoother, more equal flow to all cylinders--not the inside cylinders getting the most direct flow and the outsides having to travel farther and hit a 90* bend, not to mention the volume diffs(2.6l vs 4.3l). The 0331 head w/ the precat manifold lost power and the intake made up for that plus some.

I slapped a 62mm TB on mine at the same time and the "seat of the pants" dyno showed a noticeable improvement on my 137,000 4.0.

OK, the '00 0331 head lost 4hp compared to the '99 0630 head but the '00+ water pump gained 2hp. The camshafts were the same in both the '99 and '00 engines. Since the '00 engine was rated at 193hp compared to 190hp for the '99 engine, that's a net 5hp gain from the '00+ intake manifold (1hp more than the head lost).
Sounds about right since Comanche91's 12hp gain included port-matching the head and the electric fan conversion. Is it worth it? I'd still say yes for the reasons I mentioned in my first post.

My long search for a '99+ intake manifold is over. I scored a bare manifold from a junkyard today for a mere $54 so I'm very happy. I just need to find a '97+ XJ PS pump and I'll be ready to go with the conversion. I'll be reusing my existing Ford Racing 24lb injectors and the stock '92 injector rail/fuel lines.
I'm going to gasket match the runners and port them around the injector bosses (especially runners 2-5) to improve airflow. Hopefully this thing will rock.
