Russ and myself were talking the other day about oil pan fitment and the Melling HV pump.

Been using the 91-95 YJ pans with no problems with HV pumps from Bennie.

Pick up @ 3/16ths

The Renix pans are different for sure but are the XJ pre/post 96 XJ pans are a bit different then the YJ ?

Russ mentioned even the Moroso pan needed some love with the HV pump.

Comments, knowledge or part numbers ?

Never owned a yj but just an idea which ive done in the past is cross reference based off ebay. Usually an item will tell for what applications it will fit. For example a 95 pan may be only compatible 91-95. You get the idea.

If you bearing clearances are CORRECT, you don't need that oil heater. :brickwall:

That would be a debatable subject.

You are absolutely INCORRECT.
ANY engine would benefit from pre-heating the engine oil before starting the engine.

My stroker is built with an '00 XJ block/oil pan and I also have a Melling HV oil pump. There was no problem with the pickup clearance but I needed to "massage" one area of the oil pan with a ballpeen hammer to clear the body of the oil pump.

That`s just it Dino.
Using the YJ pan there hasn`t been any need to "customize" the pan side for the pump body.

Admit to not having looked up part numbers from the dealer (yet) to see if there is a difference between the families.
Was hoping someone might have a couple/few pans that could be laid side to side and compared. Say YJ, XJ early and then a TJ/XJ late for example.

Same here. 2000 XJ oil pan needed clearancing for the oil pump body.

I'm also curious. There has to be a subtle difference between the XJ & YJ oil pans.

You didn't read the statement, the HV oil pump IS the oil heater, a stock pump provides all the oil an engine needs, WHY!?? heat the oil by PUKING it out of the bypass valve??
