Fuel injection problems no more
I have read so much despair on getting it right. Hers my thought if anyone cares. Google gronk carb adaptor. Its a spacer so you can put a two barrel carb on the 4.0 intake. Slap on a fuel pressure regulator and hook up a fuel muxture gauge and jet accordingly. Stock throttle body is 2.18 inches and the motorcraft 2 barrell is a 1.08 venturi. Times two is 2.16. Fuel issues are done.

Re: Fuel injection problems no more
Better yet modify the intake to accept a four barrell holley 390 or the oober rare carter 400 cfm which has a 1.06 venturi. Smaller the primary venturi the better throttle response and gas mileage. More air velocity better atomization equals better gas. Just my two cents.

Better yet: Leave the carb on the shelf where it belongs. Get the correct sized injectors and get a tune if you want. Its not that hard.

Hmmm, let me guess. He is advocating 30 year old technology as a better way.SilverXJ wrote:Better yet: Leave the carb on the shelf where it belongs. Get the correct sized injectors and get a tune if you want. Its not that hard.
He is blocked to avoid reading his gibberish. Bet I am not far off based on your reply Chris Silver.
More fun this way.

The other obvious point. Carburetors work best on flat and level ground.
My Jeep spends a lot of time on ground that is neither flat or level.

The 2100 is a great carb at steep angles.

Simple is better. Technology doesnt always mean better. Technology is always more expensive to fix and maintain.

Lol perfect example... What can cause misfiring , backfiring , surging and bucking as well as transmission shifting erratically ? Anyone ? Its called the coolant sensor on the thermostat neck !!!!! The coolant sensor is linked to all those problems. Technology just makes our lives happier and easier right ?

Carbs are great on a 1960's car. Unless it is a Corvette. Then nothing beats Fuel Injection.
Last new car I had with a carb. was a 1985 Mustang GT. Ran great at sea level. Choked and sputtered like crazy when I got into the mountains, even with less than 1000 miles on it.
Carbs are for Luddites. https://www.google.com/search?q=luddite ... 8&oe=utf-8

Yeah I'm just itching to give up the EFI that's responsible for good driveability in all conditions, good fuel economy, and clean emissions to swap in dinosaur age technology.amceaglesx4 wrote:I have read so much despair on getting it right. I'm sure you'd be equally happy running Windows 3.1 on your PC as you are running a 2-barrel carb.

There's also a flaw in your maths. A single 2.18" barrel has a C/S area of 3.73 sq. in. whereas two 1.08" barrels have a total C/S area of just 1.83 sq. in.
One plus one does equal two but one squared plus one squared doesn't equal two squared!

I'll try and be nice, but after reading on here, you have no chance of jetting a carb correctly...
Either take it to a pro for a diag and dyno tune, or trade your savings in for $1 bills, and build a nice fire.
