Is a Melling HV oil pump helpful for:
A poor man's stroker?
A milder mini stroker?
A stock 4L?
At JeepForum and other forums, I read a lot of conflicting opinions. Some saying an HV pump is helpful, some saying it's harmful, and some saying it doesn't matter. So I came to JeepStrokers.com for advice and opinions.

Re: Melling High Volume Oil Pump questions
As far as I'm concerned they are just oil heaters!, and they put extra stress on the distributor drive gears!
How many MILLIONS!! of OE engines use them?, hardy NONE!?, if your bearing clearances are correct you don't need one.

While you're correct high oil pressure will be hard on a small diameter distributor gear,IH 392 wrote:As far as I'm concerned they are just oil heaters!, and they put extra stress on the distributor drive gears!

some applications will require the high-volume/pressure 167 pump regardless how tight you get the clearances.
