Hi folks,

Can someone point me to a post that details compatibility between years and what, if anything, is different?

I am looking to put a stroked inline 6 from a 1994 XJ into my 1997 TJ.

Any issues, thoughts?

Block side engine mounts are different between the two

Is there a simple workaround for the location difference? Or is it a PITA?

Dallas can help with a conversion mount. We have done this several times already.

The OBD1 sensors (XJ) and the OBD2 (TJ) will need to be swapped.

If I have to change from OBDII to OBDI, I am guessing that would trip me up at the smog check here in California. I may need to head back to the drawing board.

Not knowing how the smog laws are in Ca, I can only say that the sensors have different connector ends and in some cases the pin out is different.

If its just the sensor issue it just a matter of swapping one for another to match your OBD1 harness. If they also look at the block year, well then your screwed.
