torque converter??? swapable

Post by crazygogo »

so i have my engine ready and i have trans built up .. i have mopar 229a cam in jeep, and i was looking over at pro king and i found a cr90 goes as stock replacement. now there is a cr69 for a 1993 to 95 4.0 and 96 to 97 cr69 for the v8 model.. these two cr69 and cr90 both have same splines same bolts same o.d size expect that the cr69 has a Stator Bearing AND HIGHER STALL. so here is my question can i put the cr69 in place of the cr90?

just for a heads up for anyone that wants to go to a higher stall torque converter .. pro king has a a part number of cr69 that has a stall of 1935 rpms upgrade for less then stock cr90 and the cr69 from advance auto parts list it for 116.00. stock which is a cr90 is 1600 something rpms and is near that same price.. the only different from the two is one is 90 degrees and other is offset bolt pattern, so a free info and intel for an upgrade.

i live just outside of St. Louis. there is a guy out here that rebuilds torque converters and transmissions. he builds to diesel specs/torque curves. so if you are in the market, and know what you want, i could get you a price. i plan to have him build be a nice 42re to handle my 4.6 that i am working on. btw, this guy is reasonable, had him rebuild a 42re 2wd od unit that the ring broke on. 135$ for the rebuild. dropped it off on a friday, ready same day. good work

p.m. me if anyone interested.
