i want to be able to do 2000 mile road trips on occasion, but i am mainly a 40 mile per day city driver. I want this to last over 100k miles too. given the fact that i can build a stroker for about the same cost as a stock rebuild i figure why not?
here is the idea
2002 block
3.895 bore (.20 over) getting square
3.895 stroke 242 4 weight
57cc head (estimate) 0630 head I know i'll need headers, the wj has the 2 precat y pipe. * cheapo aftermarket SS tube header for TJ 00+.. stock 2002 intake
.005 deck get the quench in range and leave 1 more shaving is that enough room for another?
.043 gasket chosen for quench
17.5 dish 677AP pistons
8.875 short rod from 242
CAM wanting to use 91-95 stock. for DCR, and i am a little reluctant to spend $$ on aftermarket. skinnier lobes, budget blanks burning up??
270 duration
112 separation
-8 retard - thats what the calculator put in.
this gets me a 4.56L with 10.02 SCR and 7.39 DCR and a quench of .048
stock on my old zj (255k miles) correct me if i am wrong
3.96L 8.79 SCR 6.42 DCR quench .0725
i am using the stock cam to keep the DCR down for 87 octane, using an 0630 head for better flow (the wj had a non tupy 0331). i can source a tupy, but i am reading a 0630 head would be worth the extra 150$ in exhaust plumbing.
any advice would be greatly appreciated. S#!t is about to happen!
