I know the usual recommended cam break in procedure is 2000-2500 rpm x 20-30 minutes and let cool using Brad Penn Break in oil.
I read here but can't find it now about a progressive' break in procedure. Something like 'double the time' each cycle and let cool down in between. Like 1 minutes--cool--2 minutes--cool--4 minutes--cool--8 minutes--cool--16 minutes--cool, but I don't recall exactly and the cooling time.
Something about this gave the metal time to ?heat temper? Maybe gave time for the valve springs to break in.
Does anyone remember this 'progressive' cam break in procedure? and the details and why it was advantageous.

Yes and it was a waste of time. So wrong on so many fronts as be borderline ridiculous.
Fire it up and do it right.
