677cp piston dish?

Post by Defcon92 »

Factory specs I've seen listed as 13.4 off Dino's parts selection page.
14.0 cc dish posted by a user named John here.
And in the piston FAQ Dino listed his with a minor polish at 17.5cc dish :banghead:

Summit shows .116 recessed dished which isn't helping me much. What's the factory untouched dish of a 677 piston?

Using the plexiglass method I cc'd my stroker's 677P pistons (after smoothing rough casting) at 17.5cc and my original stock 4.0 pistons at 13.1cc.
Silvolite quoted 11.5cc for their 2229 pistons while KB quoted 21.0cc & 10.8cc for their IC944 & IC945 pistons respectively.
I've tried for years to find reliable numbers for other pistons with mixed success.
I think the quoted number of 15.1cc for the Sealed Power (Sterling) hypereutectic H802CP/H825CP is correct and since the 677APs share the same dish dimensions, it's likely that those will also be ~15.1cc.

Dear Cheromaniac!
Do you have pics of your 677P pistons after smoothing rough casting? Very interesting.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics after I'd sanded the piston dishes down to a smooth finish. Here's a pic of the 677P pistons in their raw form:

I was somewhat surprised that mine cc'd as high as 17.5cc as the as-cast versions are probably more like 15.1cc. I even checked a second piston and got the same result so it wasn't a fluke either.
