95 to 2000 TJ block question
I need someone to confirm a block question please. I have a 2000 TJ motor. I'm starting a new build and plan on using a motor from a 95 YJ. It has the head I want. I just want to comfirm if my motor mount brackets, water pump and assy brackets from the 2000 will bolt to the 95 block from a YJ. I know the head will need a mod to run the coil pack.
Thanks
Thanks

No. The 2000+ TJ block and 1999+ WJ block have completely different accessory mount and engine mounts. See here for some good reading: http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... =34&t=4362

Thanks. There's a lot of info there. Not what I wanted to hear, but answered all my questions.

Unfortunately you will need a 00+ TJ or WJ block. It actually shouldn't be too hard to find though.

Re: 95 to 2000 TJ block question
95 block has the AC Compressor and Alternator sharing bracketry on the upper passenger side of block. The 99+ (and even a few 98 Jeep's snuck in this casting) I have seen move the AC Compressor to the bottom driver side of block. The bracketry is shared with the intake manifold and it also have a horizontal bushing cast to the to block about 1.5-2 inches long. This is part of the attachement used for the AC compressor to slot onto. This bushing casting is right above the oil pan. That is one of the notable physical difference that would be a challenge to work around imo.
Oh, not to mention 96+ block all were mandated to OBDII system. So they also have other sensors and a different PCM/ECM. Which Flyin Ryan is a tuner here on the site that can help with any OBDII from my understanding.
Hope that helps also.

All the sensors will swap, nothing to do with the block.beiwulf wrote: Oh, not to mention 96+ block all were mandated to OBDII system. So they also have other sensors and a different PCM/ECM. Which Flyin Ryan is a tuner here on the site that can help with any OBDII from my understanding.

Re: 95 to 2000 TJ block question
Beyond my level of experience to date. But I figure with the OBDII system and more code running would come with more/extra sensors that the OBDI system did not require.

Re: 95 to 2000 TJ block question
But I am confused, engine mounts are one thing but a good fabricator can make engine mounts like the ones from Stinkyfab.com
http://www.stinkyfab.com/heavy-duty-mot ... 00-06.html
http://www.stinkyfab.com/heavy-duty-mot ... -87-3.html
If your running only an alternator and a PS pump with no AC is the accessory drive that much different ?
I have the 2000 + intake on my 93 block with the PS pump bolted to it/block and the alternator hanging on the passenger side. Then 2 idler pulleys the one being at the PS pump mount the other screwed into the passenger side above the alt..
Following the belt from the crank >water pump (RR) > Alternator > Idler > crosses block at the thermo > PS pump > idler > crank
So again if we take the AC out of the equation and forget the engine mounts wouldn't an OBD 1 block work fine ?

Re: 95 to 2000 TJ block question
Well I'm about to find what else beside the mounts that maybe an issue. I've already talked to Dallas (stinky fab) about a new set of motor mounts. Like john said. The accessories for me shouldn't be a huge deal. I only run a p/s pump (of the manifold) and alternator.

Re: 95 to 2000 TJ block question
Mike, if Dallas can hook you up with mounts (he should be able to) I just don't see an issue. Last I talked to him IIRC he could mix an engine plate/frame mounts.
You already have the PS pump and brackets. Where is your alt now and how does it mount ?

Re: 95 to 2000 TJ block question
My alternator is up on the passanger side. If anything I'll use a bracket and tenstioner from a 98 TJ. I think they ran a spring loaded tenstioner. I pick the 95 motor this week. So I'll see what works than.
Yes Dallas make a mount that will work. The mounts are a needed upgrade either way.
