map adjuster on obdII
I am looking to see if an adjustable map sensor will work on my setup. I currently have a 1998 xj and the obdII system. I notice that most of the time I am at 14.3 -15.1 on the air fuel gauge(which I understand is normal) . I have had the chance to get to open loop on a fairly flat stretch around 3500 to 4000 rpms .5, should I be closer to the 12.0 range? if so will an adjustable map sensor get me there? I also have a slight ping when going to moderate throttle when locked in od and going up a reasonable grade(engine running around 1200 rpm) ,but has no other signs of a ping the rest of the time.

What octane are you running? What fuel injectors?

That's about 4% leaner than ideal which isn't bad. You could try a higher grade of fuel and if that doesn't get rid of the ping, an adjustable MAP sensor set slightly richer than stock should do it.rammit11 wrote:oops, just a clarification I am at 13.5 at 3500-4000 rpm.

I am using 89 and the blue ford style injectors that should be at 27# with 49 psi fuel pressure. Are the diy adjusters easy to build and install?

Piece of cake if you have a soldering iron.rammit11 wrote:I am using 89 and the blue ford style injectors that should be at 27# with 49 psi fuel pressure. Are the diy adjusters easy to build and install?
