connecting rods
Sorry, total noob when it comes to this stroking stuff but I'm gathering the things I need to make my first attempt!
didn't know wether skimping out and picking up some used 4.2 connecting rods off EBAY was a good idea or not.
i found a set on there for $130 bucks but i just don't want to end up with a set of junk.
if it comes down to it and i have to buy new ones that's no big deal
A set of new ones from Titan only runs $250 but being a 19 year old college kid im trying to pinch every penny
Thanks guys this forum is a huge help!!

Re: connecting rods
do your self a favor and watch craigslist for a whole motor ive seen them running as low as $150 so you would have the crank and rods

Look everywhere, ask everyone, and then look and ask some more, I got my 258 for FREE, in fact the guys loaded it in my truck when I wasn't looking!
A couple of other guys on here got them at that price too!

Re: connecting rods
I agree with these guys look for a whole engine, I went with the long rods so mine were a little easier to come by. As for using new or used ones I just reused the one out of the 92 engine I bought and had my machine shop put arp bolts in them, I used ford 302 bolt kit since its cheaper than the 4.0 kit

Hey guys! took your advice and found a complete 4.2L!! guy wanted 100 bucks for it and ended up givin him 150 since he followed me home with his engine hoist and helped me pull it out of the truck
got the oil pan off and was lucky enough to find a 12CW crank too!!

Re: connecting rods
That's a good find. Now you can cannibalise the crank & rods from that engine and sell anything else that you don't want.mudweiser wrote:Hey guys! took your advice and found a complete 4.2L!! guy wanted 100 bucks for it and ended up givin him 150 since he followed me home with his engine hoist and helped me pull it out of the truck
