searched but no luck. 88 4.2 intake on renix head
Back story, I have a 88 yj with the good ol 258. I was given a known good, low mileage reman renix longblock for free. Seeing as my 258 has finally died I am planning on putting the 4.0 in with my 4.2 and weber. Once it's summer and I can ride my bike daily I will cannibalize the 4.2 to build a stroker. Anyways will the 4.2 intake fit on the 87-90 head using the same principle as the 4.0 ho? Thanks alot for your time and help guys!

Unless someone pipes up who has done this, my first thought is go to the parts store and ask to see the intake exhaust gasket for a 258 and one for a Renix 4.0 and compare them.

The dowels are in the wrong location, they need relocated, and you'll need to use a 4.0 header too.

Thanks. Ports match up pretty well? Couldn't you just eliminate the dowels?

I'm going to use the intake gasket as a template to notch the ears for the Dowels. I already have a renix xj header so im pretty well ready to get this under way when the vacation comes around. Going to oblong the hole for the power steering bracket and rock and roll. THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS AND HELP GUYS!

Not if you want the manifold, gasket and head to align up worth a schit.cruiser54 wrote:Thanks. Ports match up pretty well? Couldn't you just eliminate the dowels?
