It's meant to be used in the 258 block. With a +0.060" overbore (3.810" bore size) displacement would be 283.5ci or 4646cc.
That 4.145" stroke crank wouldn't work in a 4.0L block.

AFAIK, nobody's gone beyond a 4.06" stroke in a 4.0L block.

Re: Flatlander Racing 4.145 Stroker?
Well, I called Phil at Flatland today to ask about this 4.145 stroker kit. Turns out it is no longer offered for sale. They only sold a total of 3 kits. That is why it is no longer offered. When I asked Phil why it was not marketed for the 4.0 he said they missed the boat and sjould have done that. What about bringing the kit back? No chance, it is/was a market failure.

I thought my offset ground scat crank with s.b.c. , small journal bearings achevieved 4.08 stroke. Could have been 4.06 I guess. The 4" bore makes up for it though!

Hey Racing89,
(I'm gonna highjack this just a bit, (sorry OP)), I'm curious about the 4.00" bore. There's a few on this site that have done a 4-bore. How doable is it? I think I read a post that Lee at HESCO say the later blocks (2000's something up) have a better chance of surviving this, and that the cylinders have some ovality built in with the thicker areas on thrust faces. I'd be interested in your experience on this, or anyone elses.

I recall reading the same thing on hesco's site. But I also recall you still need the core shift as its not all uniform through the later blocks. I.e. is the thrust side thicker or not.

Yeah, I think it was in response to Plectan who has had quite a bit of work and tuning done by them. I would love to have the 4.00" bore and all the piston choices. Even with the stock 3.895" stroke that would yield a 294ci/4.8l. A 0.125" overbore from 3.875" would really wake up the breathing departmentSilverXJ wrote:I recall reading the same thing on hesco's site.
