So after reading about Silver's Viper coil swap I have been intrigued to do the same...However I have just run into my first major set back. I have 97 cherokee with a 99 motor. Im wanting to swap to the viper setup.
Now so far every thread I have been able to locate is inconclusive. I need to know EXACTLY what needs to be done to make this work...from my understanding the cam sensor should plug into the harness where the distributor was hooked. Now do I need to run a whole new set of wires from the ecu for the coil pack?
I have the 00+ ecu, the 00+ cam sensor, the viper coil and wires, and access to a 00+ wiring harness. HOWEVER I do NOT want to swap the whole engine harness. especially if I can avoid it. the biggest issue with that, besides the work, is that the injectors and other plugs will be different.

Re: Igniton Swap
I don't see the gain if you already have a distributor.
If you still want to do this I would compare the PCM pin outs and see what wires need to be swapped, added or spliced.

Re: Igniton Swap
well I have found the coil output pins on the ECU. I also got the plugs to make a jumper harness to go from the distributor plug to the cam sensor plug. so I wont be hacking my harness. Ill just have to tap into the coil#1 pin, then repin for coils 2+3. then I also got the plug for the coil rail plug which Ill wire in to the pins, which according to you is a plug and play ordeal if I remember correctly??
