62mm Plus TB`s

Post by jsawduste »

Some good information in this thread on larger TB`s.
http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... f=5&t=3799
But it was buried amongst conversation about valve springs.

The 2001 Dodge Dakotas with the 4.7`s are a point of conversation as well as the aftermarket F&B and Painless.

Flying Ryan speaks of perhaps machining up some adapter plates for the 4.7. Chris rightfully comments that the 68mm 4.7 tapers down to 65mm

Here are a few links

http://www.dakota-durango.com/parts_throttlebodies.php
http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/for ... y.php?f=11

Looking at car-part.com for 2001 up 4.7`s Dakota TB`s I run into some Jeep GC`s with the 4.7 in the same parts search. Anyone know if they are the same ?

Discuss.....

The WJ (grand) is the same as the Dakota's 4.7L.

Here is some info I gathered earlier researching this.
1999-2000 Jeep have a 65mm blade and tapers to 62mm.
2000 Dodge have the same 65mm blade and tapers to a 62mm.
2001-2007 Dodge have 68mm blade that tapers to 65mm.
2001-2007 Jeep have a 68mm blade that tapers to 65mm.
1999 Jeep has a 1 year linkage type that will not work on anything else.
2000 Dodge and Jeep have identical 65mm throttle bodies.
2001-2002 Dodge have 68mm 2 screw IAC throttle bodies.
2003-2007 Dodge have 68mm 1 screw IAC throttle bodies.
2001-2005 Jeep have 68mm 2 screw IAC throttle bodies.
2006-2007 Jeep have 68mm 1 screw IAC throttle bodies.
I'm considering a V8 throttle body (of course, removing the tapper) for my supercharger install instead of the F&B 70mm one.

I found a real nice one on ebay, however it is the 65mm version but 65 is not stamped on the blade. I found a 68mm one and it did have the 68 stamped on the blade.

My understanding is that beyond the adapter it needed very little if any modification to adapt to a 4.0 XJ.

The linkage arm is not the same and the stock WJ's will not work. Also, if you center the bore over the manifold's bore it will also offset the linkage arm from the stock position, not really that big of a deal.

the 4.7 tb also gets smaller before the butterfly or atleast the 1 i picked up off ebay from a 01 dakota does. looks almost like a 62 maybe 63mm then gets bigger to the 65mm butterfly. ryan how much are you charging for adapter plates? and are you cutting the plate to use the stock 4.7 gasket or are you just using some sheet gasket and cutting it to fit

The TB came in two different versions. One is a 68mm and the other is a 65mm. Of course both neck down after the TB, but can be bored out.

i have been looking into doing a fox body tb just because there are so many online and cheap but the 4.7 looks like a better deal since the sensor plug right in. once you figure out a adapter, has anyone done this yet i would like to see whats all involved in the linkage

What I have seen other people do is take off the linkage arm from the 4.0L TB and weld it to the 4.7L TB.

call me dumb, but pics would work wonders on this thread. Also not to go off topic, actually I think it works hand in hand. What exhaust diameter is everyone running that has the bigger TB?
