Which Timing Chain Set, 4.0 or 4.2???

Post by Rescue Diver »

Parts stores show different part numbers for 4.0 and 258 timing sets. Using a 258 crank and a 1995 4.0 block and cam, which timing set do I use???

Or is this another case like with the oil pumps where they show a sightly different part number, but the parts are actually interchangeable?

I have a 2 year old double roller in my 258 with 25k on it that I'd like to re-use in the 4.7L, but I need to know if it won't work with the 4.0 block and cam for some reason?

4.0L timing chain. I don't know what the exact difference between the two are though.

You should be able to reuse your chain, all the one everyone uses are for the 258 anyway, if anything you may have to remove the rubbing block in the 4.0 cover?
