megasquirt/Renix question

Post by ftpiercecracker1 »

I will be putting in a turbocharged 4.6, and need to know if megasquirt is a compatiable system. I have done TONS of reading, but have yet to find a specific answer to my question.

It is the Renix system with all sensors i.e. knock, O2, intake temp, coolant, etc

what i dont know is which version to acquire (ms1,2, or 3) or if it is even compatiable at all, will it plug straight in using the old plugs or will i have to sort out each individual wire and determine what it does and where it goes on the megasquirt. OR is there an adapter?

thanks for the help

you need a ms2, and there is no adapters as far as i know. as well, the ms can be bought either preassembled or you can assemble it (including solder to the board and all that) for a cheaper price.

thanks for the reply,

so i will have to determine what each wire goes to on the plugs and then connect them to their corresponding port on the MS2?

glad i removed my entire wiring harness

yep. read this. it wont spoon feed you on exactly how to do it but you can see how it was put in and how it worked. this is a turbo 4.0, and not a stroker, but the idea should be close enough.

thanks, i remember reading that thread not too long ago, good stuff.

i have an account on a megasquirt forum, and after talking with those guys, i have decided to do as you and they suggested and get the MS2 as well as the MS stimulator. Should be about 375 after shipping, not bad considering it is a true stand alone capable of just about anything you can think of.

can't wait to order it :D

I run a 4.6 twinturbocharged engine on Megasquirt 2 with V3 board.
If you want a wiring schematics I have one, Its too my Wrangler -91.
You need to replace the original wiring so its easy to follow my schematic, I have also a setup file too MS2 latest code If you want.
The setup is for E85 but you could change the fuel tabel if you should run on petrol the rest should work.
My build is here,

Get the Jimstim instead of the regular stim, more functions.
I'm interested in a copy of those squirt files if you wouldn't mind. I'm doing a 4.6 also but without the turbo.
I want to get it running with the Renix ECU first, easier to troubleshoot.

Send a pm with your mail adress so could I send them too you.
Megasquirt is easy if you have the configuration files, I started with a config I have done only in the Megatune program and it started on the first try.
The most work was too config and wire the idlestepper motor but with the drawings and config file I save you that problem.
The color of the cable could be different in your car but compere Wrangler 91 schematic and the schematic on your car soo should it work.
I have put an tachsensor on the crankshaft but you could use the original as well.
