Getting ready to rebuild a 96 4.0 and need some info on a cam. Its going back stock except the block will be bored 30 over. Its a daily driver and going in a 95 wrangler for the grandson. Right now his wrangler has 200,000 and he will need a new engine before long. I picked up the motor for a back-up. Was thinking of putting a mild(rv) type cam in it for sound and a little pep. Right now its used for street use and mild offroad. Anything out there like that?
I want to stay with stock valve springs.

Re: Need cam info
It's hard to beat the OE cam in the '97-'99 4.0's, my jeep would pull hard until it hit the rev limiter!, I believe that this is indeed an OE camshaft, I ordered it Thursday after work and had it Saturday morning.

Re: Need cam info
I went with a Crower 44243. A little bigger than stock, but smaller than the Comp Cams many are using. A good compromise.
Adds 6 degrees intake duration and 12 degrees to the exhaust (194/204 degrees @ 0.050). Comp 231 and 232 cams have even more with 206/212-214 duration
Lift is 0.437 " and 0.445", so stock springs will fit. But a little more seat pressure would be preferred.
The late stock cam is a good choice as well.
My thinking is that the extra cubic inches of a stroker should have a correspondingly larger cam.
