Bulltear pistons

Post by NorCalChris »

What is everybodies thoughts on these since they started production? Has there been any issues with them? When I first saw them come out I decided to buy them as my next set of pistons, but just because I havent heard any problems doesnt mean they dont exist. I'm looking to be ordering a set in the next few months.

+1 That's something I'd like to know as well.

I was curious about these when I first saw them mentioned I've heard a few negative grumblings about Bultear's past reputation (very slow delivery of parts IIRC), but I never found a whole lot of specific details. Honestly I didn't search too hard about it as I was looking more at the Icon 944's at the time.

I've also seen a post where someone (might have been Bultear themselves) said that past issues were all due to problems getting worked out with the supplier of their forgings and everything was all good now.

Take this all with a grain of salt as it's just what I've heard on the forums. I'd really like to hear from someone who has dealt first hand with with Bultear recently and what they thought of the transaction as well as the quality of their products.

EDIT: Found the link I was thinking of from a while back. http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... =21&t=2704

I took the plunge and ordered a set of pistons from Bulltear. I really wanted to have a larger dish than what was available from others and also wanted to run Total seal 1/16" rings since I am building my stroker for a turbo application. The delivery was not the 3 weeks that I was anticipating but actually took almost 2 months. But happy to say the pistons look really good.
SO if you can wait this is an option for a custom piston set.

I know with the KB Icon 944/945 pistons you have to grind or machine away the rod small end balance pad to clear the underside of the piston. How do the Bulltears look in that respect? Plenty of clearance, or will you need to trim the rod small end as well?

I won't have clearance issues since I'm using rods from 505 Performance. But I will see how the stock rods clear when I drop the pistons off at the machine shop next week.

I bought that pistons, I didn't have any problem,a little delayed in the shipping. The pistons look very good and it can have a large dish (up to 34 cc) and the price is same to a standard forged pistons.
