I take it I have to install the O2 sensor in the 2" section between the cast iron manifold outlet and the pre-cat?
I have an Innovate Motorsport LM-2 (handheld). The manual mentioned I may be able to replace the stock O2 sensor in the manifold with the wideband sensor and possibly feed an output from the LM-2 gauge back to the Jeep computer.....anyone know if that works?

general rules is at lease 36" from closest runner and before a cat or air pump.

also, any exh mani for the 4.0 is not cast iron. on some turbo'd cars, the first o2 very short off the turbo which if you were running a stand alone, you could replace the stock primary o2 with a wideband o2 for tuning purposes. thats what your lm1 instructions might be referring to. having a o2 too close will cause it to burn out premature from the excess heat and pressure

00+ have cast iron manifolds.

As for installing it I don't really know the best solution for your case. Considering the precats may skew the reading and that you have two separate banks to deal with. You could replace one of teh O2 sensors with the LM o2 sensor and use the narrow band simulation from the LM to feed the PCM, but the PCM will make noise if the heated circuit isn't satisfied. I would just have another bung welded on and use that, but you would have to decide which bank to have it put on.

I suppose I could go either route.
1) Install the wideband bung just ahead of the mini-cat or 2) replace the existing OEM sensor with the wideband and send the 0-1v output from the wideband to the PCM.
I'm thinking I should just install the bung before I install the engine and keep it independent of the OEM setup.
I can always try the wideband sensor in the OEM locations later to check cyl 1-3 vs 4-6 balance.

I figure I can take the wideband off once I settle on the right size injectors. Or is it something I should monitor all the time?
