stroker parts recipie??

Post by Smokeybear91 »

i have a 98 jeep wrangler with a 97 4.0 HO. I wanna buy my parts a few at a time until i have them all. But i don't even know where to begin. I'd like a 4.9 but will settle for a 4.7 if it's cheaper and easier. Would like to know what parts i can find used or needs to be new. I'd like it to have a lopey idle. I'm a volunteer fire man so i need get up and go and speed more than low range torque. I do some mud bogging some but nothing major and no heavy pulling or rock crawling.

Main/rod/cam bearings, ARP rod bolts, Keith Black IC944 (or IC945) stroker pistons, piston rings, oil pump, timing set, camshaft, lifters, valve springs/retainers/locks, pushrods, roller rockers, and injectors will need to be new. You can buy all of those items from Summit Racing.
The 258 crankshaft can be bought used but the journals may need to be reground undersize and micropolished depending on condition. You can reuse your old 4.0L connecting rods but the big ends will need to be checked for roundness, and the balance pads on the small ends will need to be ground back to accept the new stroker pistons.
