which head bolts?
So if I'm running a 96-98 4.0 block casting number 53020569(fyi) and a 7120 head for my 4.6 build, which head bolts do i use? Do I use the year of the head or the year of the block?

Re: which head bolts?
Didn't that year engine use a 7120 head? Anyway, I would think the bolts are the same, if not, use the bolts for the block. The head shouldn't make a differance.brokenujoint wrote:So if I'm running a 96-98 4.0 block casting number 53020569(fyi) and a 7120 head for my 4.6 build, which head bolts do i use? I ran a 7120 on my 03 TJ block. I bought the bolts for the year of the engine.

afraid not my friend. a 7120 is a late model yj head. I have a 97-98 TJ/Cherokee block. I was leaning towards the bolts are for the block as well. Thanks.

Re: which head bolts?
All of the 4.0 engines use 1/2" head bolts and as far as I'm aware, the bolt length is also the same for all years so it shouldn't really matter.
