Highest CFM Mechanical Fan

Post by datmony »

Setup
4.6 stroker, ~95 block
Serpentine setup is in general a 2002, PSC pump, and still waiting for the compressor to show up
I will be running A/C

I am trying to determine what fan to use for my CJ setup. I have a couple different options but want to know the feedback from some others. I will only be running some sort of a stock style mechanical fan, with a clutch. Here are the fans that I could run,

Stock 86 CJ fan from a serpentine system (Correct rotation)
~2002 TJ fan, five blade

Both of those setups I have today. I also will be running a ~95 style water pump. I have a new 2002 mopar water pump, correct pulley, etc but I am concerned that the castings on my block do not match up to the new style of water pump and I would only be able to secure with 3 bolts instead of 4.

I also know that there were some heavy duty stock TJ fans out there, a seven blade I believe, but I cannot for the life of me find one on Ebay or anywhere else.

Which is the setups that I have would likely flow the most air? Are there other stock fans (Wagoneer or something that had an inline 6) that will move more air than any of these? Any other thoughts appreciated as well.... thanks.

Not sure this will help, but when I bought a new fan clutch, I went looking for the "tow package" clutch for my Grand Cherokee. On the Grands, this was a stronger unit from the factory with the "package". And Napa had what I wanted. You may find these are the key words on the other model Jeeps for the upgraded cooling system parts.

Good luck with it!

Someone on here has used a Mustang plastic cooling fan on their TJ. Since you are using a TJ water pump you might want to look into that option. You would need to use the mustang clutch as well. I had looked into this for my XJ but the fan was too large to fit. Search on here for it.
