I have a 2001 TJ Wrangler 4.7 stroker. What motor oil should I run?

I used VR1 to break in my cam and I ran in my stroker (changed every 3000 miles). Cam had .501 lift and I used Mopar Performance springs. The engine had 18,000 when my Jeep got totaled. I had no problems with the VR1 up to that point. I am currently running 10w30 VR1 in my stock 4.0. I can get it locally from a mom and pop autopart store. Orielly auto parts doesn't have it on the shelf, but said they can order a case and have it the next day. I buy it for less than $5.00 a quart.2003_z71 wrote:Would Valvoline VR1 race oil be good? Shop told me to use 10w30 weight. Sound right?
If the manager is any good, if you show interest in getting it on a regular basis, he will stock it for you. I work at O'Reillys and we have both the VR1 conventional and synthetic in stock, on the shelf.dwg86 wrote:Orielly auto parts doesn't have it on the shelf, but said they can order a case and have it the next day.
