I am building a 4.9 stroker for my 06 TJ Rubicon. I bought a kit from titan. Anyone running a 4.9 ? I would like to ask some questions.

But, wait, wasn't it just the kit? They don't manufacture kits, they just put em together, right? Why would it be bad just because it came from some one's warehouse? I'm very interested in stroking my Jeep, that's why I'm here. I've looked for machine shops (and stayed away from them, because of this site). Everyone says Hesco is the way to go, I believe it, I do, but how would a kit be bad or good just because of who shipped it? I'm still thinking about which way to go with my Jeep, so the input is appreciated.

I'm sorry, I talk of assembled engines. I saw problems in Titan's three engines.
I think that if the parts are good quality, it won't have problems.

i would think if it was just a kit, not a preassembled engine you could be ok, just make sure to check over everything a few times to make sure theyll work for you. one of the things i would check first would be the journals on the crank. check for size and what not, i remember reading on here people getting cranks (from somewhere else) that were ground down so far that main and rod bearings were hard to get in that size.
