The cam screw is 1/2"-20? On my 6-242, it looks more like about a 3/8"-16.

Interesting, I didn't think it would be that big. Sounds almost oversize.

On that note, do you have a listing of screw sizes? I've been trying to accumulate them to fill out a chart I've got on my site.

The screw in my '00 4.0 thrust plate engine measures 7/16"-14TPI 1 1/8"L.

I thought it was 1/2-20 but I just wanted to verify. Thanx.

That makes a little more sense - I couldn't see it being 1/2"-20, and it has been a while since I pulled one (and it would have been on a RENIX engine anyhow.)

Making it the same size as the crankshaft nose screw seemed to be too much, tho - no reason for it!

The small bolts that hold the thrust plate are smaller ~7/16", but the bolt that goes into the nose of the older style and performance cams is ~1/2".
