Hey there... i just installed my stroker... it was the first time ive ever installed an engine or even seen some one install an engine, and i did it with very minimal advice.
My dilemma right now is im not feeling more than 4.0L power from it. although my gas mileage doubled. i havent done anything like replace any components or mod certain devices or computers.. im thinking that part of my problem is the fuel delivery and possibly the mass air flow not reading properly(not being a 4.0L any more) but the good thing is i can drive any highway in 5th gear again with out any thought of having to downshift.
info on it. its a 95 jeep cherokee with an ax-15 trans which means i have 3.07 gears stock front and rear.
If you have doubled your mpg's and don't need to dwonshift at Inetrstate speeds w/3.07 gears. I'd say your ahead of the game and don't mess with it. If you just gotta have more, there's a whole list of things you can do, I'd start with a A/F ratio guage. It would be a good investment, so you know whats going on with the fuel delivery.

well, im doing an oil change next week and im switching to synthetic, and in the process im changing my fuel filter, because its been about a year. but what advantage do 24#/hr injectors give me.. could my lack of power really be lack of fuel? or could it be the computer not receiving what its programmed for, therefore not delivering enough of something.
i had the machine shop build it for me... i know that its been bored .030 over with slightly larger pistons. i think its just a stock cam nothing fancy.. it doesnt ping, but it feels like the majority of my power in any gear is 2-2.5k+ i expected there to be at least a little more low end power in 1st and 2nd.
My recommendation to you is to get axles with 3.55s from an automatic equipped XJ(97-99s are a plus). Jeep should've never used 3.07s and it looks like you have larger than stock tires, which makes those 3.07s effectively 2.xxs. That will give you the low-end pull you're looking for.
with the amount of cutting you did to your fenders i'm guessing your running atleast 33's maybe 35's am i correct? if so you should be running 4.10's for 33's or 4.56's for 35's and you'll see a huge improvement
Exactly http://jeephorizons.com/tech/rpmchart.html
You'll see how severly undergeared your Jeep is if you are running 30+" tires. The yellow above the green is for economy, the yellow below for power, and green stockish. You essentially have no 1st gear--more like 2nd-6th.
I had 3.55s in my 2wd a15 XJ w/ 27" tires and now I'm overgeared with 4.10s on 27"(shoulda went 3.73, oh well, gotta make mistakes to learn, but erred on a fun side)--it's almost made 5th gear 4th(essentially .5-4.5th). I let my little brother drive it and we usually do 180s or kick our tails out at the end of the culdesac where we grew up--he did a 540 with such ease, lol.

Agree with what Jason said. I also suggest you pull the plugs and inspect them. If the engine's running lean the plugs will be white and that could account for the perceived lack of power. You could add more fuel by making a homebrew MAP adjuster and raising the voltage.
3.55 sounds good because it gives me a better power that ill need... but maintain fuel economy.. i do alot of highway driving when im not going out the ohv parks.
ill check my plugs for discoloration. also, im running 31" tires on a 3" lift... i cut my fenders to high with out realizing that i could have just but adjustable upper and lower control arms.
but on the good side... i burnt out on the road today and was able to shift into 2nd and maintain.. so it definitely shows signs of power.
ive put about 700-900 miles on it already... i actually just took it to the machine shop because my rear main seal is pissing its self.
but i just got a free set of brand new 3.55 gears for a 8.25 axle. and i'd imagine that any one would be willing to give me if not sell me a cheap pair of 3.55 gears for a d30. but my next big project is my transmission and clutch.
