i have a 99 tj wrangler 4.0l . it has a distributer . i bought a long block from an xj today with casting #'s 53020569 . this is for 96-98 yes? it has a distributer. the filter is 90 degrees to rear for shock tower i guess . this is still a compatible block for my tj yes? my jeep is in my sons hands , so i could not confirm .

It is indeed a '96-'98 block and it'll do fine.

thx . i finally got out to look today and yes it's identical . woo hoo!!! it's low miles so i hope the cam is good . head looks ok too . least from outside lol :banana:
