Hello,
First I'd like to say thanks to the guys on this board that have been so generous with their knowledge. I've lurked around for a long time but never posted. I've got an '87 Comanche that I've been putting off a headgasket job on for awhile. If I don't find anything disastrous in the cylinders when I do it I won't be stoking it right now, but I am planning a head upgrade which is where my question comes in.
The discussions of all the different heads really piqued my interest, especially the discussions about the flow quality of the 0331 head. It's been theorized that putting the 0331 head, along with it's manifolds, on an older engine could yield some impressive results, so I've decided to try it out. Right now I've collected the head and both manifolds from an '05 Rubicon and plan to swap them on in a month or so. I've already got a bored Renix throttle body that looks to mate easily with the manifold, the only other addition will be a cam, unless I learn something new about the Renix era cam to change my mind.
My question concerns the twin exit down pipe. Once I get the job done I'm going to be faced with tying the manifold into my exhaust system, which is already done with high 2.5" flow cat and a magnaflow muffler. On the first fire-up I'll need to break in the cam and I cannot run open manifolds for 20 min where I live, so I'll need this done prior to firing it up. I could have it towed to the exhaust shop, but my garage/alley situation is tight making a hook up difficult, and I'm sure the shop doesn't want to push my truck around any more than I do. So I found this down pipe http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/J ... &intcmpid= for a 2000 grand cherokee. I'm not too familiar with the grand's and I'm wondering if this will end up anywhere near my factory exhaust location? Even if it didn't tie right in i could at least clamp a muffler on there temporarily and have the exhaust shop finish the job.
Any other ideas or suggestions?
BTW I do have a header for my Renix head, but the ports are much larger than the 0331 so I don't think it will be a good choice.
Thanks

Just realized this would probably belong in the general tech section, so if it should be moved, please do so.
I also realize that this isn't a stroker build, yet. So in case someone was wondering why I posted a in this forum, it's because this is the only place I've seen actual technical discussions on making power with this motor and not just a bunch of bickering about the value of throttle body spacers.
Thanks again.

Edit: That walker pipe oughta do the job just fine.

Thanks for the tip, I did look at what I could and I think it will work just fine.
