fianlly building it

ok so some stuff came up and the motor i had in my jeep is basically scrap metal so now i need ot get my stroker done in a hurry. right now i can't afford to get the roller rockers i was planing on using so will a cam with a .507 lift be useable with the stock rockers? i'm prolly gonna use the crower springs, retainers, locks so lift isn't an issue with the rest of the valvetrain. i read somewhere(prolly here but i can't find it) that there are hotspots in the combustion chambers on jeep heads. has anybody found a fix for this yet?

The CompCam I have in mine (yet to run) has .512" exhaust lift, and all i have are Mopar springs and retainers. Soo... I hope nobody says that's a problem, lol.
I think as long as you have an aftermarket spring that is good for the lift then you are ok.
idk about the hotspots...

I don't know the limit of the stock rockers, but when its talked about its referring to the slots allowing for the increased movement. Can't say I've heard of any problems though.
There aren't any "known" hot spots per say , but where the cylinders overhang the bores can,and mostlikely does get hot. Check the sticky on head porting / flowbench work by 1bolt. 1st pg a little ways down there's a pic about it and bore notching. I did my last eng and plan to do the rest of my 4.0's as I go through them.

ok so i can't seem to figure out what fuel rail to use with my stroker. i have a renix rail, a 92 rail, a 96 rail, and a 99 rail all with their perspective injectors. so far my builds a long stroke with kb944, 0630 head, 99 intake, 4wt crank, .010 off the deck and i'm really leaning towards the 63501 lunati cam but i may go with something with a little less lift to make more gas friendly.
so what rail should i use and is there any chance i can use 1 of the sets of stock injectors?

I presume you're putting this in your '88 xj.Aren't the '92 & '96 the same? I don't know if the '92 rail will just bolt up to the '99 intake, but if it does that would probably be easiest/best, as it has/uses a return line like the truck . The renix rail wont fit a newer intake without modification. You should replace the fuel lines with the same year/type lines as the rail you use as well.

the 88 rail and the 92 rail are both return style rails but they aren't setup the same. the 88 has the feed and return at opposite ends of the rail, the 92 has the feed and return right next to each other, prolly 2 inches apart. the 96 and 99 rails are almost the same. 1 of them appears to have a diaphram in the middle of the rail
this is the 92 intake
the 88 rail is attached to the intake and the 96 and 99 are in front of it. i just don't know which is which
all the rails are interchangable in the fact any of them will go in the 99 intake but the 88 has different anchor points
my next question.... i was reading ealier and found out that the cps is a hall effect sensor? what about the cam sensor is it also a hall effect? how many windows are on the flywheel for the crank and what is the cam reading off of?

All the rails will attach to the injectors. that doesn't make them interchangeable.

The mounting points and fuel line hookups are the differences, that's why i said to use the same "type" lines as well.

ya all the injectors of course fit the rails but i can take the 88 rail and injectors and plug it into the 99 intake. same with the 92 and 96. the injector spacing on all the rails is identical so if i cut the anchor points off the 88 rail it be compatible with the 99 intake

what ever rail you use make sure that you have a way to secure it to the mani. and make sure your injectors are all the way in as well

The diaphram in the middle of the later lines is a damper.
What you need to decide if you are staying with the open system or not. Then you need to decide how will it mount to the manifold. That should help you narrow it down.

by open system do you mean having a return line?

Oops.. I should have said return less or return style system. I must have been thinking of cooling systems or something.
