Main studs??

Post by banipal19 »

So it seems like I can't use ARP main studs along with my stock crankshaft gridle .. http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1979

Is it ok to reuse stock main studs? They have about 180,000 miles on them. If I should replace them, who sells the replacement? I found the stock PN 06035207 but couldn't find who sells them. A little help please ...

You probably could re-use them, there is no mention about not doing it in the FSM but it is cheap insurance to just replace them. Call the dealer, I got all new studs and locknuts for ~$80 for mine.

You can reuse the mains studs without any worry. It's the rod bolts that you should replace 'cause those are very highly stressed.

Called the dealer and told the guy at parts supply that I need main studs for 98 TJ 4.0 engine block. He had no clue what I was talking about and asked me whats wrong with the engine... :D

Anyway, I gave him the part number and told him I need 14 of them. He said that it will be three ninety five. So as we all are programmed to think that dealer's prices are always through the roof ... i thought he said $395.00. Than he clarified it's $3.95 for each.

So I ordered the studs and nuts and the bill was about 70 bucks and will pick them up on Monday.

The rod bolts I already got them from ARP.

Thanks for your help!!
