block measurements with straight edge
Just started the tear down on a 4.0 to replace my aging 4.2, does anyone have the block and head

specs for a 4.0? Looking to see what is the min and max amounts of warpage. I straight edge the block and head and have at the most 0.003. Just trying to figure out how much additional machine work I need and what is acceptable. Seems all my factory manuals have walked away over the years.

Re: block measurements with straight edge
You are allowed .001" per 1", .002" per 6", and .008" for the whole length.

Re: block measurements with straight edge
Thats kinda what I thought, the 0.003 I have between #3 and #4 is what is concerning me the most. If I break that down into a 1' measurement, I have exceeded the 0.001 rule. I was hoping I was going to be okay since this was a supposed rebuilt block. Thanks for the insight, always open to other suggestions or opitions.
