Thinking about used 4.2 rods instead of new

I want to buy the 4.2 crankshaft new just to keep my mind at ease, but im finding that the rods are damn expensive new. If I do buy a used set of 4.2 rods will they have to be reconditioned or anything before I use them in my stroker? (yes, im a newb when it comes to engine internals

You'll need to have the rods checked and possibly resized. Whichever rods you use, I highly recommend you go for a set of ARP rod bolts.

PAW is one source for recon'd rods. Make sure to ask for a matching set/matching p/ns cause one set they sent Streetpirate had different p/ns.

Double check the recon rods that you get. I had a set from PAW that were not round and none of them were the same size. I sent them back.
