85 octane stroker with stock injectors for 2,400$

Post by Phman9 »

February 2010 I was heading up I-70' west towards the Eisenhower Tunnel, in my stock 4.0 Cherokee. This stretch of Colorado takes you to the top of the continental divide. A long up grade in high altitude, very hard on your vehicle. Just as i was making my was up the hill i started to hear a loud knocking, knock, knock, knock. One of my rod bearings were shot. I had only one choice now. Build a stroker. After doing my research i started to build parts lists and machine costs. After all the headache and time i realized having a local shop build it was the most economical option for me at the time. So for a little over 2400$, i had Western Engine Supply build me a bad ass engine. Plus a one year warranty. After getting the engine stabbed back in and started. It runs amazing. I have driven just over a 1000 miles and it's coming alive. Lots of torque. Driving up the pass is effortless now. Here are some pics of my project.
