4.0 tranny swap 700r4?
How hard is it to swap the 700r4 tranny to the jeep 4.0? I know you need a adapter plate put could you make one your self? And would the factory tranny mount work on the 700r4. just want to know if anyone has done this, and if there was a lot of work in the swap i have a 92 xj and i would really like to use this tranny

why would you wanna use that tranny? it's weak and prone for failure. even it's older brother the 4l60e is crap. i've personally blown up 6 4l60e's and am in the process of swapping in a 4l80e cause i'm tired of blowing through 60's

It can be done but, IMHO it's a wasted effort.
is your AW4 not shifting well enough for you?
To firm up the shifts you can shim your accumulators in the valve body and make it bark the tires on the 1-2 shift.

Did you make does shims? if so how thick are they? I was thing of putting the 700r4 because i have a rebuilt one (freebie) that i got from my uncle, and i've heard the swap could been done. But yes i would like better shift; my tranny is not giving me any probelms just want better shifts my xj is two wheel drive and has a 4 speed auto.
